GVS
Efficiency and Profitability in all Business Areas
The Italian and Asian food specialist GVS imports the goods directly from the producing countries via the company-owned “romac Logistik und Service GmbH”. romac procures the goods and transports them to the central warehouse of GVS in Nuremberg. In the warehouse, the CSB-System is used to check the quality, quantity and deliveries at goods receiving. From there, the goods are transported to and stored in the appropriate high-bay storage where they are managed based on their sell-by date.
Telesales is the primary sales channel of GVS. Orders are taken using the integrated CRM modules of the CSB-System, which provide all required information on both customers and products. In this way, customers can be made aware of special products and the system also actively supports telesales. In addition, the products are also sold through company sales representatives. The sales reps have notebooks and are using the mobile Field Service Management module to enter the order data directly in the central CSB-System. Order processing is extremely fast because all orders are transmitted online to the picking department by 7 pm of the same day.
The goods are picked per customer and order and temporarily stored in the different cooling zones until dispatch commences in the early morning. GVS uses seven trucks from its own fleet as well as seven third-party vehicles for the deliveries. The integrated planning modules of the CSB-System ensure that the goods are distributed among the vehicles in an optimal way and delivered to the appropriate regions. “Optimizing of the routes preferably starts when the order is received. This minimizes delivery mistakes and allows for faster, more cost-effective and more efficient routes”, explains Martin Huster.
More Transparency with Business Intelligence
As regards information technology, GVS is currently focusing on evaluations with the objective of realizing uniform corporate planning and management. To achieve this goal, the company has decided to utilize the integrated BI Suite (Business Intelligence) which offers direct availability of all data and allows for quick evaluation of key figures on management level. In addition, GVS will also be working with MDC scanners for transferring goods directly to dynamic storage and for paperless picking.
Flexible and Fast
Utilizing the CSB-System, GVS has been able to realize considerable cost-saving potential. As regards inventory, the company is profiting from shortened order processing. Reduction of the stocks on hand has reduced capital commitment and has increased delivery reliability with support by the integrated coverage planning modules of the ERP system.
“Utilizing the CSB-System we are now able
to react flexibly and quickly to all customer
requirements”,
says Martin Huster, putting his experience with the ERP system in a nutshell.
