Cost reduction and long-term productivity increase are the key terms laying the foundation for a company‘s market success in the dairy industry. In support of these strategic goals, the German dairy Naabtaler Milchwerke GmbH & Co. KG, Privatmolkerei Bechtel, together with Albflor Milchwerke GmbH and BG Käsewerk GmbH, which also belong to the company group, have been relying successfully on the CSB-System for many years. Walter Heyne, commercial manager at Naabtaler, knows the advantages which the business IT solution offers innovative companies in the dairy industry: “Faced with the growing importance of powerful information technology and an increasing level of automation, companies have to recognize and realize optimization potential in time.“

In the recent past, Naabtaler Milchwerke initiated numerous new IT project with its IT partner CSB-System AG. Procurement processes in materials management, for example, were completely revised and changed to MDC scanning with SSCC. As part of the project, goods receiving was also redesigned. Data capture and processing using scanners is now carried out in all processes up to production entry. One of the goals is to realize standardized work processes in procurement, from listing of a supplier/item to invoice control. “Our objective is to eliminate any post-entry of data by mapping the complete material flow and by posting all movements in the ERP system online. We deliberately do not want to distinguish between internal (Bechtel group of companies) and external suppliers“, explains Walter Heyne. Liquid products (milk) were also included in this concept.

This complex IT project is first implemented at the largest production site and head office of the company in Schwarzenfeld. All identical work flows are captured for a scheduled transfer to the other locations of the enterprise. The required tests for quality assurance are fully realized in goods receiving. Paper-based reusables management is changed to automatic management by the ERP system with all container management specifics being taken into account. All information and parameters affecting goods receiving, e.g. quantity and schedule variances, QM results, reusables quantities, etc., are documented on a single, easy-to-read receiving note which replaces the delivery note of the supplier. In addition, permanent stocktaking for the interim inventory of goods receiving and production is realized.
